Backend Developer - Berlin (Relocation + Visa Sponsored) - €75K-€120K + Equity

We're hiring a talented Backend Developer to join a fast-growing startup in Berlin. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage team building cutting-edge recommendation technology, already used by hundreds of global customers and growing rapidly.
You'll work closely with engineering, product, and AI teams to build and scale the infrastructure behind real-time recommendation systems. This isn't just about writing clean code - it's about building production-ready systems that power products used daily by real users.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that support real-time AI-powered search and recommendations

• Work with large datasets, APIs, and cloud infrastructure to deliver fast, reliable services

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to ship features end-to-end

• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape the backend roadmap

• Continuously monitor and optimise performance, scalability, and reliability in production

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building and deploying backend systems (ideally in a fast-moving environment)

• Strong skills in TypeScript, Python, and modern cloud services (ideally GCP)

• Experience with databases, APIs, and asynchronous job queues

• A pragmatic, hands-on approach with a focus on delivering reliable systems quickly

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills - you'll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and AI researchers
